Dr Esther Mahlangu is a South Africa visual artist, and multi award winner. She began painting at an early age which was a culture common among the Ndebele people in South Africa, taught by her mother and grandmother at age 10.

Born 11 November, 1935 outside a farm located at Middelburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa. She was the first out of nine children from her parent.

Early Life & Career

Mahlangu loved painting houses which was a culture of her people and inheritance she had to keep going for centuries to come. She also serves an educator and role model to young Ndebele people in South Africa that took her as role model.

Several years of being a visual artist, she have being honoured several awards by popular organizations and university.

She is also known for using brushes made from feathers to create amazing designs in large scale. Mahlangu customized on beads, walls, metals, clothes, and surfaces.

During her early days, Esther got married to her husband, they both had three sons. After some years of marriage, she lost her husband and two sons.

In 1991, she was summoned by BMW to create art car alongside other artist.
